Hopi Silver Overlay-Bear Buckle
This matte finished Hopi Overlay belt buckle by Hop Indiani artist Merle Namoki features the Bear, bear paw and Prayer Feather symbols.
The buckle will accomodate a 1.5" belt. Matte finishing is accomplished by using a very fine steel wool during the final
polishing phase.
Bear Paw: The bear / bear paw is a symbol of
inner strength, power, authority and leadership.
Prayer Feathers:
Prayer feathers or "Pahos" are created out of cottonwood root or cedar and have
specific feathers attached to catch the wind. They are generally created to
communicate with the Creator of the Kachinas and are used to accomplish specific
tasks of protection and blessings.
