King Size Painted Hills Blanket: The Painted Hills rise from the plains in Eastern Oregon. Oxidized mineral deposit in layers of volcanic ash create the stripes of red, yellow and gray visible in the hills nearby. The Hills are part of the John Day Fossil Beds.
